¡Hola! My name is Melinda Elise, and I am a 27-year-old Latina filmmaker and director. From a very young age, I’ve held an unwavering passion for cinema, and I quickly realized that directing was not just an ambition, but my true calling.

My journey behind the lens began at seven years old, sparked by a Blockbuster rental of Night at the Museum. While most kids watched the movie, I found myself mesmerized by the behind the scenes bonus features, including the storyboards, the visual effects, and the intentional world building. That discovery sparked a creative fire that never faded. Between the ages of 7 and 18, I was rarely seen without a camera, filming everything from casual music videos and vlogs to directing my first short horror film by my senior year. Following graduation, I fully dedicated myself to mastering cinematography and visual storytelling.

Growing up, I constantly searched for stories that felt authentic to my roots. Finding Real Women Have Curves was a pivotal moment for me. Seeing my Hispanic heritage portrayed with such depth, honesty, and warmth taught me that Latina stories are vital, necessary, and richly multifaceted. That revelation is the core heartbeat behind my project, Tres Vidas. Especially in navigating the social and political complexities of today, I believe it is imperative to use our art as a platform to elevate our community. My mission as a director is to celebrate the resilience, courage, and beauty of Hispanic culture, proving that our narrative extends far beyond struggle and that everyone possesses the power to tell a meaningful story.
